Big Ambitions Multiplayer and Co-op
Official answer: single-player only. Unofficial answer: community mods exist, at your own risk.
Big Ambitions is a single-player game. There is no official multiplayer, online co-op, local co-op, or shared-company mode in version 1.0. Steam lists the game under Single-player, and a developer reply in the Steam forums confirms that an online mode is not planned. This page gives you the direct answer, explains the community alternatives, and tells you how to follow the game correctly.
What the official store page says
The Steam feature list for Big Ambitions identifies the game as Single-player. No co-op, no shared sessions, no multiplayer tag. The current 1.0 store page has not changed from the Early Access listing in this regard — Hovgaard Games has not announced any multiplayer feature for any version of the game.
The developer reply that surfaces most often in search results comes from a 2021 forum thread. In it, Hovgaard described co-op as a “dream” if wishlists kept growing. That was five years ago, before Early Access launched in March 2023 and before the full 1.0 release in August 2026. The dream has not been confirmed as a roadmap item.
Why the game is designed for solo play
Big Ambitions is built around a persistent clock. Your character needs sleep, food, and transportation. You manage multiple businesses across a city where time passes whether you are watching or not. These systems do not pause for a second player, and no multiplayer mod currently recreates them in a synchronized way.
The game also stores all state in a single local save file. Cloud saves sync that one file. Adding a second player would require either turn-based access or a full network architecture for state synchronization — neither of which is trivial to add to a game whose core loop was designed around a solo protagonist.
Community multiplayer mods
Several community members have attempted multiplayer or co-op mods. These are experimental projects, not supported features. Before installing any multiplayer mod, be aware of the following:
Version compatibility. A mod that works in Early Access 0.11 almost certainly does not work in 1.0 without an update from its author. Check the mod page for explicit 1.0 or Build 3672+ support before installing.
Save safety. Multiplayer mods modify how the game reads and writes save files. Use a backed-up copy of any save you care about. If the mod desynchronizes a save, you may lose progress. There is no recovery mechanism.
What they actually do. Most “multiplayer” mods for Big Ambitions are screen-sharing setups or modified network listeners that do not create true synchronized co-op. The game still runs on one client. A second person watches over the owner’s shoulder via remote desktop or similar tools. This is not co-op — it is screen sharing.
True co-op attempts. A handful of mod projects have tried to intercept network traffic and create synchronized state. These are the most technically ambitious but also the most likely to break between patches. They require matching game versions, matching mod versions, and careful port configuration.
What to use instead of multiplayer
Steam Remote Play. If a friend wants to watch your game, Steam Remote Play lets you stream to another device. The other person sees your screen and can commentate, but they cannot control the game. This works out of the box and does not require any mod.
Family Sharing. Big Ambitions supports Steam Family Sharing. A family member can access your library and play while you are not using it. They have their own save file. This is not simultaneous multiplayer — it is sequential single-player on a shared library.
Cloud saves with manual coordination. If two people want to play the same save, they would need to manually coordinate file transfers through Steam Cloud or a cloud storage service. There is no in-game merge or conflict resolution. This is not a supported workflow and will likely result in save conflicts.
How to follow the official answer
The official answer — no multiplayer planned — comes from Steam store features and developer statements. This page will be updated if that changes. Check the official Discord server or Steam news for app 1331550 for any future announcements. The Updates hub tracks what actually ships.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Does Big Ambitions have multiplayer or co-op?
No. The Steam store lists it as single-player and a developer reply confirms an online mode is not planned.
Can I use a community mod to play with friends?
Community mods exist but are experimental. They require matching game and mod versions, may break saves, and do not have official support.
What is Steam Remote Play for Big Ambitions?
It streams your screen to another device. The viewer cannot control the game -- it is watching, not co-op.
Will multiplayer be added in the future?
Nothing on the roadmap mentions it. If Hovgaard announces multiplayer, it will appear on Steam news first.
