Big Ambitions Guides

From uncle Fred's spare key to a Hamptons driveway — every how-to in one hub.

Guides Hub

This hub is the map for every Big Ambitions tutorial on the wiki. The game is a single-player sandbox: you are one person in New York who still has to sleep, eat, and physically move boxes until the company can run without you. 1.0 is live, so the pages below assume the full release map, including Industry City and The Hamptons.

Start here if you just launched Steam. The getting started guide covers the apartment, the first lease, and the moment you should stop standing at the till. Once a shop prints a little cash, jump to how to make money and the business tier list so you do not copy the tutorial fast-food layout forever.

What each guide is for

  • Getting started — day-one loop, food, sleep, first van, first hire.
  • How to make money — demand, markups, loans, advertising, 24/7 shifts.
  • Employees — recruiters, skills, schedules, uniforms, HR later.
  • Headquarters — purchasing agents, logistics managers, pricing desks.
  • Warehouses — imports, vans, trucks, shelf math.
  • Factories — production stations, Industry City lots, feeding a chain.
  • Controls — movement, phone apps, interior designer, camera.
  • Banking — 1.0 loans, tax deductions, funds, property in a tax cycle.
  • Importing — dock contracts, purchasing agents, the truck that has to arrive.
  • Vehicles — first van, freight trucks, Onyx private driver.
  • Housing — needs bars, Speedy Bites, Hamptons mansions.
  • Workshop — Steam blueprints, Competitive layouts, mods.
  • Walkthrough — story beats without spoiling the whole city.
  • Review — who the 1.0 build is for, and who should wait.

Same-category pages link to each other on purpose. If you are reading about payroll, you will also need the opening hours tool and a neighborhood pick from the district ranking. If you are reading about factories, you still need a warehouse and a van — do not skip warehouses.

How Big Ambitions actually plays

Most tycoon games let you click a plot and watch money arrive. Big Ambitions makes you walk. Early on that is the whole puzzle: you lose a day if you sprint across Garment District for one box of gifts. The solution is never “work harder at the register.” It is hire, then automate supply, then automate buying. The employees page is the first real skill check. The headquarters page is the second.

Market Insider is your other skill check. Every neighborhood has a class mix and a demand board. Opening a second gift shop next to an existing one can crush both of you. Opening jewelry in a working-class block can look profitable on paper and still sit empty. Pair this hub with the product ranking before you renovate.

1.0 changes that affect guides

The full release is not a reskin of Early Access 0.8. The Hamptons adds luxury homes and a small retail strip. Banking and tax behaviour changed enough that old “ignore property, park cash in funds” advice needs a reread — see version 1.0. Blueprints and Steam Workshop layouts still save hours of furniture dragging; the workshop page explains when to subscribe versus when to build by hand.

There is no live-service code board and no shared sessions. If a YouTube thumbnail promises gift codes, it is the wrong game. Use the links page for Discord, Steam news, and the official forum instead.

Suggested reading order

  1. Getting started until the first shop is staffed.
  2. Make money plus the tier list before shop two.
  3. Employees and opening hours in the same sitting.
  4. Warehouses as soon as you hate driving to a wholesaler.
  5. Headquarters when you need imports.
  6. Factories only after a chain already exists.
  7. Banking before a second fat loan or a Hamptons house.

If a page still feels thin after that path, open the system requirements tool — a stuttering city makes every logistics run feel worse than it is. Then come back and finish the walkthrough if you care about uncle Fred’s quest list.

This wiki is unofficial. Numbers such as traffic caps, building codes (A1, C2, P1), and recruiter skill bands can shift in patches. When Steam news disagrees with a sentence here, trust Steam and file the difference against the updates hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Which Big Ambitions guide should I read first?

The getting started page. It assumes 1.0 and stops you from working the till after day two.

Do I need a factory in the first week?

No. Staff a shop, then a warehouse. Factories belong after imports, as the factories guide explains.

Are these guides for the 1.0 release?

Yes. They assume the August 2026 full release, including The Hamptons. Older Early Access notes live on the updates hub.
